2022 Head World Cup Rebels eSpeed

Imagine you could distill the power, energy, and technology in Head’s World Cup race skis and put it in a user-friendly package with modern sidecut and the associated turn radius capabilities. That is exactly what the Head World Cup Rebels eSpeed is, and our testers were enthralled by it. This cambered super carver incorporates an energy management circuit to damp vibrations with Graphene for even more smoothness. Add in a race plate, and the result is a practically chatter-free ski. “Smooth and stable with just enough energy,” comments tester Nick Loomans. “Best edge hold of the day, always felt super strong.”

With the narrowest profile in the category and a stiff demeanor, the eSpeed is designed to gouge deep cuts into groomed terrain. Testers didn’t want to take them off smooth snow because it would have been an unforgiving experience, and also because these skis are just so fun on the piste. Because they get better with speed, some of the testers noted that timid skiers need not apply, though but a few noticed that, with good technique, they could trench on groomers even at slow speeds.

Unsurprisingly, the Head carver topped the category in Stability at Speed, Hard-Snow Integrity, and Overall Impression. Expert skiers of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds who just want to carve all day long will be more than happy with this ski, making it a solid quiver addition for any non-FIS racer (we’re looking at you, NASTAR-farians) who want to make a solid claim for a spot on the podium. “The e-Speed kicks it up a notch to give you the feel and performance of a World Cup constructed ski,” says tester Mike Rogan. ”Get in, sit down and hold on tight: This is gonna be a fun ride.”

  • Strengths: Stability at Speed (1st in category), Hard Snow Integrity (1st)
  • Weaknesses: Forgiveness (11th), Crud Performance (11th)
