The Nordica Enforcer 100, the ski that has defined this category since its inception, swept away its competition yet again with an all-new layup. Advanced skiers and ex-racers alike will swoon the moment they put their foot on the gas, while intermediates and beginners may want to look for a more forgiving ride. Nordica’s redesigned charger treated our testers with a rock-solid platform, burning sidewall for thousands of feet from the top of Sun Valley, Idaho’s Challenger chair. The brand may have put its beast on a diet, but the Enforcer 100 hasn’t lost any of its teeth. Put simply by tester Luke Larsen, who also happens to be a ski-shop owner, “If you love to ski, you will love this ski.”

On to that redesign! Nordica took a bunch of heavy ABS plastic out of the tip block to lighten up the swing weight, but kept the stout midsection that delivers the ski’s famous horsepower. “The Enforcer 100 manages crud and soft bumps like a dream. It’s strong and powerful enough to plow through variable snow, but agile enough to be flicked around in tight terrain,” said longtime SKI tester and writer Jon Sexauer. Less mass in the tip also delivers fewer harsh vibrations to the skier, simultaneously lightening the ski and providing increased damping.

While the tech talk intimates that this ski was cooked up in the bowels of the race department, the Enforcer 100 is most at home carving off-piste chalk and snaking at the margins of groomed runs. Nordica updated the construction but didn’t lay a finger on its time-tested shape. An early rise tip combined with a whisper of tail rocker, classic camber underfoot, and minimal taper in the tips and tails translates to a shockingly versatile ride. “It’s predictable, but in a good-old-friend kind of way,” said tester Todd Casey, a ski instructor at Colorado’s Copper Mountain. The rocker allows the Enforcer 100 to slip and slide through bumps at the entrance to a chute, while the long effective edge and camber underfoot provide unparalleled grip when you’re through the choke and making big turns in the apron.

The Enforcer 100 is still Nordica’s flagship ski. It sits squarely in the middle of its line as the widest classic Enforcer above the Enforcer 88 and the 94, but below the more twinned Enforcer Free skis, which cater more toward maneuverability and float. The Enforcer 100 is the perfect daily driver for anywhere but the deepest snowpacks.
This model is not for the cruisers, but for those who dare to find out the precise speed limit of their ski (hint: good luck). The Enforcer 100 is the perfect choice “for the confident skier who loves the stability and dependability a metal-laminate ski offers—one that excels both on and off the beaten path,” reported Otto Gibbons, a hardgoods supervisor from Bellevue, Washington. With ample float for East Coast trees and power to bust through Sierra cement, this ski asks the question, “Why bother with a quiver?”
