2022 ROSSIGNOL BLACKOPS SENDER TI

Back for its second season, the Rossignol Black Ops Sender Ti moved up four overall spots at Solitude. While the top category scores for Crud Performance and Balance of Skills/Versatility were impressive, what is even more astounding is that the Sender Ti was ranked in the top three for every category except Forgiveness, where it was fourth. “All around playful, agile, fun, and stable in all conditions,” commented Dustin Cook. “Could see this being used by a huge range of abilities, too.”

Fans of the Black Ops series might remember a time when Rossignol provided lengths, waist widths, and absolutely no other information about the construction and design of the skis. Luckily, for the data nerds, we now also know the turn radius. We also know that these skis have a carbon alloy matrix, Titanal beams (there is a non-metal version, just called the Sender), a Damp Tech insert in the tip to reduce vibrations and a poplar wood core. This last technology feature is sustainably harvested and PEFC-certified, pairing nicely with the Sender Ti’s recycled steel edges.

The reason why the original Black Ops skis didn’t provide much detail was that Rossignol wanted the user to focus on just having fun while skiing instead of focusing on anything else. And testers found that the Rossignol Black Ops Sender Ti still provides fun by the buckets for skiers who want a very chargeable and versatile all-mountain wide ski. “A true all-terrain vehicle it can handle whatever conditions you have on hand,” comments tester Luke Larsen. “Surprisingly fun and snappy for a wider-waisted ski on the trail. The ski stays nice and quiet at higher speeds, and lets you send it when feeling so inclined.”

  • Strengths: Crud Performance (1st in category), Balance of Skills/Versatility (1st)
  • Weaknesses: Forgiveness (4th), Hard-Snow Integrity (3rd)

The flagship of Rossi’s expanded Black Ops line, the Sender Ti features a freeride-oriented shape and flexes two sheets of edge-to-edge Titanal. While the Sender Ti can handle the biggest, burliest expert skiers in all terrain, testers at Taos Ski Valley found it has a welcoming agility and ease of use that is sure to please fans of the 7 series (R.I.P.). A solid new option for freeriders and resort skiers alike.

STRENGTHS: Overall Impression, Stability at Speed

WEAKNESSES: Flotation, Crud Performance
