2022 Salomon Stance W 94

The Salomon Stance W 94 is one smooth operator. Back for its second season, unchanged, this ski continues to impress our ladies with how unflappable it is.

At its core, it’s lightweight, with poplar/caruba wood reinforced with Salomon’s Metal Twin Frame technology; but it skis with the conviction of a heavyweight, ripping big GS turns down the fall line without batting an eyelash. Because of this, the Stance W 94 earned its highest scores—by a long shot—in the Stability at Speed department.

Testers just really appreciated how the Salomon Stance W 94 smooths out rough patches, even when you’re high-tailing it down the fall line. “Nukes over chunder and bumps,” notes tester Courtney Harkins. “Takes the vibrations out of the equation and is easy to control at speed,” adds tester Georgie Bremner.

Ladies also appreciated this quality when it came to tackling crud, where the Salomon Stance W 94’s damp, stiff construction gives the ski enough heft to charge through choppy snow. “Perfectly capable and eager to explore the firm, uneven crud,” comments Bremner.

Other testers also commented on the Stance W 94’s tendency to coach its skier, which led testers to recommend this ski especially to intermediates who want a ski they can rely on on and off the groomed, but also a ski that will help them level up. The Salomon Stance W 94 is a confidence-builder and a great teaching tool. Peterson: “Likes to gently coax some good out of a bad turn on crust.”

With an 18m turning radius, it’s not the quickest tool in the shed, leaving some of our experts who gravitate towards a ski with pop and pizazz a little disappointed.

But this ski will get you from A to B all over the mountain without asking for directions. “It’s a tidy ski in all conditions,” sums up veteran tester Robin Barnes. “Put a gal on this who seeks out ungroomed but plays on groomers when the in-laws are in town.”

  • Strengths: Stability at Speed (8th in category), Crud Performance (11th)
  • Weaknesses: Flotation (13th), Quickness (10th)

The all-new Stance W 94 scored top marks in Stability at Speed while also ranking high in Playfulness. Our ladies loved this ski’s blend of dependability and responsiveness, a result of the ski’s Metal Twinframe technology and Titanal construction paired with a poppy caruba/poplar core. This specific blend makes the Stance W 94 an inspiring all-mountain charger that will take strong intermediates to the next level, but also appease hard-charging chicks.
