2022 Scott Slight 100

Testers’ perennial feedback about the Scott Slight 100 is how impressive these skis are. The dramatic sidecut with a bulbous shovel and tip cutouts usually create a clean sheet in terms of expectations, but by the time the run is over, the feedback is generally positive. “Goofiest looking skis out there, but I enjoyed skiing on them,” notes tester Dustin Cook. “A lot of fun to shoosh around off-piste, and held up quite nicely when I let things rip.”

The ski derives its power and abilities from both the shape and the unique construction. Built with a sandwich construction, composite wood core, unidirectional and triaxial carbon weave, and aramid fibers, the Scott Slight 100 is stable and damp at speed. The flat tails and sidecut give it plenty of drive on groomed terrain and stability when exploring more of the mountain. “The Slight 100 will happily charge down any face in any condition you tell it to,” says tester Otto Gibbons. “Stout, powerful, yet still responsive in a pinch, these will get you where you need to go.”

“This ski is comfortable and predictable in uneven terrain, and on groomed snow they are smooth,” comments tester Jon Sexauer. This predictability would be especially appreciated by intermediate skiers looking to push their abilities and terrain choices in particular, but at their own pace. The Slight 100 is a ski that can handle most, and grow with everyone else. Or, as Sexauer puts it, “The Scott Slight 100 lets me focus on skiing, not on the ski.”

  • Strengths: Hard Snow Integrity (11th in category), Balance of Skills/Versatility (11th)
  • Weaknesses: Quickness/Maneuverability (17th), Playfulness (15th)

Testers with smaller builds or the bigger guys who know how to feather turns were impressed by the Slight 100’s manners on hard snow and beyond. Made with a full-length wood core plus a carbon and aramid elliptic laminate, these playful, lightweight skis were just as fun on chalky hard snow as on pristine groomers. The pure-power testers failed to find the Slight 100’s sweet spot, however, especially in crud.

STRENGTHS: Quickness, Playfulness

WEAKNESSES: Crud Performance, Flotation
