Designed with the help of pro skier Wiley Miller, 4Frnt’s YLE is designed to be a powder-specific backcountry freestyle ski. With a 119 mm waist, and a symmetrical, twin-tip, rockered shape, the YLE will be just as comfortable riding switch as it is riding forward. The skis are meant to be center mounted for backcountry freestylers, and a 24-meter radius means they like wide-open powder fields. 4Frnt build the YLE with a semi-cap construction meaning the topsheet wraps partially around the sidewall for added protection and durability while keeping the edgability needed on harder snow.
The YLE is part of the Signature Series, which consists of the Raven, Renegade, and Hoji (all designed with the help of Eric Hjorleifson), the women’s Hoji W (based off the Hoji), the YLE, and the Wise (designed with the help of David Wise). They range from ski touring (Raven), to powder and big mountain (Renegade, Hoji, and Hoji W), to backcountry freestyle (YLE), and half-pipe (Wise).
Here’s what testers say:
“It’s a good looking ski from a local company. Divey for a powder ski, but stiff and fun. If it had more rebound energy it would be more versatile and likable. Generally, it feels like a couple of well-polished planks.” â
