K2 gave up on race skis a few years back, but the Crossfire is a reasonable facsimile. It’s intended for Eastern/Midwestern hardpack, with the narrowest waist that powder-loving K2 can bring itself to put on a ski. There are stouter skis in the category, but the Crossfire brings plenty of sidecut and a pleasing quickness to the game, and it’s well-suited to the steeps. “It’s nimble and quick, yet stable and confident,” said Sabanosh.
