PRO Heft gives a ski stability, but as you’d expect, too much heft can compromise agility. In the Izor, Atomic tackles weight savings at the molecular level, employing silicon-oxide crystals in the resin that bonds the Izor’s fiberglass reinforcement layers. They add strength while reducing weight, so the ski can be built with a thinner, more supple profile without sacrificing edge-grip or torsional rigidity. Testers weren’t sure the Izor was appreciably lighter than other skis in the category, but they were convinced it was one of the more powerful. True to its Austrian roots, it’s happiest at speed, and that inspires confidence, as it did in Hogen on the frozen corduroy that greeted us on Day Five of the test: "I was grateful for its placid tranquility on this super-hard snow." CON Performs grudgingly in short turns or at low speeds. TOP SCORES Stability at Speed 3.9, Long Turns 3.8, Hard-Snow Grip 3.6
