A well-blended mix of signature Atomic ingredients, the Waymaker combines Hawx-like lower boot comfort (with added ceiling height over the midfoot and instep), the stretchy Live Fit lateral forefoot panel on the shell for additional width if needed, and the Redster’s carbon-reinforced rear spine and heel area for crisp transmission and ski-driving power. The upper and lower connect with a new and improved free/lock mechanism to enable hike-to missions. Testers gave the boot a thumbs-up for the upright and solid stance and how strong it felt on snow at speed in all conditions and terrain. The fit was judged quite close in the heel and ankle pockets, but really opened up in width for the forefoot, toebox and over the top of the foot. They agreed that the boot cuff is slightly taller than most, a touch tipped out (which resulted in some inside edginess) and possesses a stronger-than-100 flex feel. All of which added up to dramatic power generation. Tester Comments: "Excellent support in all directions. Much better response than other hike mode boots." "The cuff is strong and supportive, responsive but not uncomfortable around the calf."
