Waist Width: 125
The Spur is Blizzard's widest and longest radius ski, with a 146 mm tip and 125 mm waist, boasting a 28 meter radius and, not surprisingly, specializing in deep powder skiing. It's designed to charge through not-so-powdery conditions, too, much thanks to its Rocker Flat Rocker technology, which features a rockered tip and tail but completely flat middle section. This rocker profile is built to allow the ski to float, but stay planted underfoot on hardpack conditions. The Spur also has Light Core Technology, which means its core is made from a combination of Isocore and bamboo material designed to prevent it from being too clunky. The Spur is part of Blizzard's Freeride All Mountain series, which specializes in wider, hard-charging skis that are designed to hold up far beyond the groomers. Flip Core technology is integrated, in which the core itself is built with rocker, rather than forced into a rockered shape during pressing, designed to result in a chatter-free ride. Sandwich Compound Sidewalls feature ABS and phenol plastics that are designed to keep edges safe and locked on the snow, preventing further chatter. If you're looking to huck cliffs, send chutes, and bomb down variable snow conditions on a regular basis, or just want something burlier than a strictly-groomer ski, this is the best series Blizzard has to offer you. Blizzard, based in Mittersill, Austria, was founded in 1953. Its U.S. headquarters are in West Lebanon, N.H.
