Here’s an unpleasant reminder: The ski industry is looking down the barrel of another pandemic winter. And, as anyone who has tried to buy a bike or backcountry ski bindings during the past year will tell you, there are still massive delays due to supply chain issues that will most certainly affect our ability to buy new equipment this autumn, as well.

So, while the start of “ski buying season” doesn’t officially start until SKI reveals the results of the 2022 SKI Test in September, there is good reason for skiers who already know what they want to buy skis now to avoid delays due to inventory issues.

A few brands are incentivizing this by putting this year’s skis and other products on sale now. From July 26 to August 11, Utah-based DPS skis is holding its annual Dreamtime sale. It’s the only time of year that the brand offers a discount on its American-made skis, some of which are special editions made exclusively for this sale.

“Behind winter, Dreamtime is our second favorite season of the year,” says Thomas Laakso, vice president of product and operations at DPS. “It’s a time for DPS to show off our favorite designs and creations with the ski community. We strive to bring the most innovative products to you each season and we can’t wait to share our latest iterations.”

While DPS is known for toned-down, monochromatic top sheets, the 2022 Dreamtime event features four Special Editions of the Pagoda Tour ski with unique, lava-lamp style graphics. DPS also partnered with ATK bindings for two DPS-branded tech bindings. These products, plus two limited-run Powderworks skis, two new Koala models, a restyled Foundation line, and DPS-branded gloves are available at up to $200 off during the Dreamtime sale on DPS’ website.

A number of other brands, including Salomon and J skis, also recently announced new products arriving from various factories. So, if you’ve got your heart set on the S/Lab SHIFT binding or the Hotshot, make your move quickly. After all, pandemic or not, it’s going to be another weird winter.
