Drew Tabke showing off his pro model, the Giant Pacific Octopus. Tabke designed these skis with Praxis Skis to be the ultimate big mountain comp ski. “Over the last couple years I’ve had to use almost a dozen different skis at competitons,” says Tabke. “The idea here was to have one ski that would be really consistent in any type of condiditons.” Here’s a peek at the ultimate ski for badasses.
Tabke’s skis feature 3.5 more centimeters of tip rocker than the tail making them relatively directional.
Tabke skis on a pair of 192 GPOs. They dimensions are 140-116-128. They also have a relatively compact 26-meter turning radius. They feature custom graphics by one of his friends from Seattle, and whatever bases Praxis feels like giving him.
There is much less tail rocker. “There’s stil enough rocker to smear turns.” Says Tabke.
The GPO has 3 millimeters of camber and nearly a full Maple core.
Tabke’s skis feature t-nuts planted through the bases for extra security. Similar to a snowboard, these inserts keep bindings from being pulled out, reduce the amount of bindings Tabke has to keep with him, and make tuning easier.
Tabke’s bases are gold and sparkly. When an average consumer orders skis from Praxis, they can pick the graphics and even the flex of the ski. Tabke uses a medium flex, but you can order the same comp-winning design in a flex to meet your needs. Go to praxisskis.com to get your own pair.
