Waist Width: 97
The Mythic is Dynastar’s widest touring ski, with a 133 mm tip, 97 mm waist, and 2,800-gram weight. This is a ski designed to mow through fresh snow and variable snow conditions, and it’s also got a pretty short, 15 meter radius (at 177 cm) built for quickness in chutes, trees, and other touch-to-reach spots. For something similar but skinnier and lighter, check out Dynastar’s Pierra Menta Race Carbon and Cham Alti 85. This ski is part of Dynastar’s Free Touring series, which focuses on the constantly evolving ski touring scene. Lightweight Paulownia Sandwich Construction features a lightweight paulownia wood core and fiberglass reinforcement for reduced weight that makes long uphill treks easier. 100 percent Carbon Fiber Laminate is designed to further decrease weight while simultaneously adding strength and stability. Classic camber is designed to provide strong tip-to-tail edge control when you need it, allowing the ski to rip hardpack like a race ski, while rockered tip and tails are built to get you over powder and other varied terrain with ease. Last but not least, Progressive 5-Point Sidecut technology is designed to move the ski’s widest points down slightly away from the tip and tail for better turn initiation and decreased hooking. If you’re a big fan of going up hills and not just down them, this is the best series Dynastar has to offer you. Dynastar, based in Chamonix, France, was founded in 1963. Its U.S. headquarters are in Park City, Utah.
