The Transalp 88 is a middle ground touring ski from Fischer, with a 123 mm tip, 88 mm waist, 111 mm tail, and 1200 g weight. These dimensions are designed with versatility in mind, and this ski is intended to get the job done no matter what the conditions are like. It also has a 19 m radius (at 177 cm) that is designed to play into this versatility as well, offering both small and big turns depending on the kind of skiing you're doing. While other touring skis are either quite fat or quite skinny, this sits right in the middle. If you're looking to do some touring and plan to ski on every type of terrain and snow, this might be your best bet from the Fischer Tour series. This ski is part of Fischer's Tour series, which specializes in the constantly evolving world of ski touring. Every model in the series features a variety of technology designed to keep them light yet powerful: Air Tec Ti and Aeroshape technology use lightweight materials like paulownia wood to decrease the skis' weight (650 g - 1500 g, depending on model and length) and titanal strips to keep it stable at the same time. Tour Rocker lifts tips up, designed to get the ski up and over powder and other varied conditions while the tail stays relatively flat, designed to stay on the ground for edge control. For the most part, these skis are built to tackle off-piste terrain, and if you enjoy skinning up mountains as much as you enjoy skiing down them, this is the best series Fischer has to offer you. Fischer, based in Ried im Innkreis, Austria, was founded in 1923. Its U.S. headquarters are in Auburn, N.H.
