The Kachina is Goode's pure powder specialist, with a 128 mm waist that won't really be happy anywhere but in powder. Goode's Strong Rocker design has low camber under foot and pronounced rocker at tip and tail. That combined with a long sidecut radius that prefers to go down the hill rather than across it will make for a loose, slashy, buoyant feel in deep powder. The Ogden, Utah-based company builds its wider skis with progressively softer flexes for improved powder performance. The Kachina has the softest flex in the collection. Construction: wood core with all-carbon-fiber torsion box. Goode made a radical change in its layups for 2012, going with wood cores, instead of foam, in all of its cores. Testers were greatly impressed by the difference in performance, enjoying the extra heft of wood core Goodes, which have improved tracking and stability but retain the quickness of carbon-construction.
