The Supershape Magnum, with returns updated with Head's ERA 3.0 design philosophy, is identical in construction to the Titan and Rally, but its sidecut is the deepest, most slalom-esque of the Supershape family. It's sold flat or with a 12-DIN Head PRX binding/plate system. The Supershape series is a family of four models of deep-sidecut detuned race skis ranging in width from 66 mm to 80 mm and designed for uncompromised hard-snow carving and high speeds. It includes some of Head's most popular models, and incorporates key Head technologies, most notably the use of piezoelectronics to turn mechanical energy (the vibration of the ski at speed) into electrical energy, which is then used to stiffen fibers within the ski as needed for higher performance at higher speeds. Those special Intelligence fibers are used in the tip to progressively stiffen torsional rigidity as speeds increase, ensuring positive edge grip (though the ski remains relaxed at slower speeds, for greater forgiveness). Meanwhile, Intelligence fibers work in concert with an electronic chip in the tail to stiffen the longitudinal flex as needed for powerful turn exits and rebound across the fall line. All models are redesigned this year to incorporate Head's ERA 3.0 technology, in which Head pays special attention to making sure that rocker, sidecut and flex all work in perfect harmony. In the Supershape line, that means wider tips and narrower tails for 2013-14, plus the addition of a touch of tip rocker. All models are built for maximum hard-snow integrity, with full sidewalls for edge grip; metal reinforcement for damp solidity at speed; and classic laminate layup for integrity.
