KETCHUM, IDAHO - (Press Release) - From the terrain park to the skate park, the Smith Holt and new Holt Junior will keep you covered with true helmet innovations, unduplicated style, and year-round convertibility.

Built on the industry-leading foundation of Smith's patented AirEvac„¢ vent system, the Holt and Holt Junior are the brand's freshest pair yet. Thanks to a string of unique surface designs and a full slate of sub-surface technical features, Smith's newest lids are guaranteed to turn heads...and protect yours.

"As the epitome of clean lines and style, backed by performance features, the Holt has raised the standard for what people want to be wearing," said Eric Carlson, Smith's Director of Product Development.

Primed for winter, the Holt and Holt Junior both feature the Smith AirEvac„¢ drafting system: incorporated vents which draw air up through the goggle and freely exhaust it from the back of the helmet.

Ready for spring and summer as well, both helmets come with an air mesh Techliner„¢ and strippable Snapfit„¢ ear pads - both of which are easily removed for washing or spring riding.

The Holt and Holt Junior exteriors are made with Bombshell„¢ ABS Construction, providing superior impact protection (ASTM, CE-EN) in a lightweight and snug-fitting lid.

As with every Smith helmet, the Holt and Holt Junior feature Smith's new adjustable Helmet Fit System„¢ (HFS„¢), creating a premium custom fit through a specially molded liner and simple one-button "set it and forget" system. Smith helmets are also covered by a Lifetime Warranty and Crash Replacement Program.

The Holt and Holt Junior are available in Gloss Black; Matte Black; Matte Chocolate Signs, with custom handforms spelling out the Smith brand name; Matte White Colony, with a string of stylized arachnids climbing up over the ear; Matte Army Hope and Gloss Lemon Hope, each with a pair of distinctive forms on the rear of the helmet; and Matte True Blue, bringing a striking cobalt to the slopes. ($70)

For 2007 the Holt is available with Skullcandy„¢ Single-shot„¢ audio packages installed in all colors ($85), as well as in Gloss Black with Plantronics® Bluetooth® audio ($240).

Steelies and Coulies: Idaho Style

This time of year in Central Idaho means corn skiing at Sun Valley Resort, backcountry touring in the Sawtooth Mountains, and Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River. We spent the week doing all three while testing gear from First Ascent and helmets and eyewear from Smith Optics. The trip was as good as they get. Check out our gallery here.
