The Pinnacle 130 LV returns largely unchanged (thankfully) but with a couple of refinements that were well received by testers. The Syncro Interlock ski/walk mechanism is now a stronger, extruded metal assembly that solves past breakage problems. Optional AT soles, fully rockered and tech-binding-compatible, open up more backcountry doors. The cuff release allows for an exceptionally long range of motion for hiking and walking, but the 130's ski personality was what really won over testers. Several said it skied as well as the best of the fixed-cuff boots. It fits well too. Testers found the toebox a little tighter than expected upon initial entry but it shaped to the foot quickly. Don't expect bedroom-slipper cushiness-it's a low-volume affair that puts a snug clamp on the foot in an appropriate 97-mm way-but the Intuition liner adapts well for a personalized fit. It can be heat molded, but testers all liked the way it conformed to their feet within a few runs.
