Though it's the flagship model of K2's Park/Pipe/Urban series of athlete-inspired, youth-driven twintips, the Recoil is built for all-mountain free riding as much as anything. Its Bi-Directional Sidecut, while not quite symmetrical like a dedicated park ski, is only moderately tapered toward the tail, so it's almost as comfortable going backwards as forwards, and a 90-mm waist gives surfy flotation in soft snow and powder. It's a wood-core (fir/aspen) torsion-box construction. (The core is sheathed in a "triaxially braided" sock of fiberglass, with tri-directional fibers aligned for optimized lateral, longitudinal and torsional rigidity.) The Recoil's Absorb TwinTech sidewalls are beveled inward at the top to protect them from damage caused by the opposite skis edge and are laminated with rubber underfoot to absorb the shock of big-air landings.
