The narrowest of the new Shreditor series skis is designed to offer the loose, smeary powder performance of the 112 and 120, but on a more versatile 102-mm waist better suited to non-powder conditions. It’s a metal-free wood-core (fir/aspen) construction. K2’s TwinTech sidewalls are beveled inward at the top to protect them from damage caused by the other ski’s edge. With its Bi-Directional Taper shape, the tip is only slightly wider than the tail, so its effective sidecut radius isn’t drastically different going backward than it is going forward. K2’s All-Terrain Rocker combines 70 percent camber with 30 percent tip/shovel rocker to smooth the ride, enhance forgiveness and improve soft-snow flotation. The tip is tapered so it’s loose and smeary in deep snow, with reduced swing weight. K2 splits its six-model Freeride collection into two groups: Directional (the new Annex models) and Bi-Directional (the new Shreditor models). The Shreditor models are intended to be more playful and jib-inspired. They range in width from 102 mm up to 120 mm. All Shreditor models are torsion-box constructions. (The core is sheathed in a “triaxially braided” sock of fiberglass, with tri-directional fibers aligned for optimal lateral, longitudinal and torsional rigidity.) All Freeride series models come equipped with tip and tail grommets that accept K2 climbing skins for backcountry touring.
