Like the SuperBright 90, the 102 is built for a aggressively attacking the fall line with traditional rearward sidecut waisting and mounting point and a strong-finishing flat tail. With its wider 102-mm width, it will offer ample flotation in deep snow. To keep it fun and manageable, K2 lightens up the construction and adds tip and tail rocker. It's only sold flat (no binding). K2 splits its women's Freeride collection into two categories, the "directional" SuperBrights (90 and 102 mm) and the "bi-directional" Remedy models (102 and 117). The SuperBrights are the more conventional, built to charge the fall line in powder, rather than play with it, and to perform well in hardpack conditions between storms, with reliable carvability. The more powder-specific Remedies embrace a more modern powder skiing style, with slashy tapered tips and turned up tails for a looser, surfier feel in deep snow. All models are likely candidates for backcountry skiing with AT bindings, and all are designed for compatibility with K2 climbing skins. The SuperBright 102 is a lightweight, forgiving cap construction with fiberglass reinforcement (no metal). The wood core comprises aspen underfoot for strength and responsiveness and paulownia tip and tail for softer flex and reduced swing weight. K2's All-Terrain Rocker combines 70 percent camber with 30 percent tip/shovel rocker to smooth the ride, enhance forgiveness and improve soft-snow flotation. The pink ribbon on the base signifies K2's support (at least $50,000 annually) for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
