The CPM is a trail-oriented all-mountain ski built with Kastle's lightest, most forgiving construction. It's targeted at non-aggressive frontside resort skiers looking for a light, manageable ride. It still gets two sheets of metal and a wood core, for dampness at speed, durability, and edge grip on hard snow. But it's a hybrid construction, combining the hard-snow integrity of vertical-sidewall, laminate construction on the bottom with more forgiving, softer-flexing cap construction on top. Kastle uses carbon-fiber laminates to lighten it up, and uses a single-radius sidecut to ensure that it's turn initiations aren't surprising or overly hooky for intermediate skiers. It's built in the same mold as the LX 82 model. The Hollowtech tip is a Kastle signature: All but a thin translucent layer is removed from an egg-shaped cut-out in the tip. This reduces swing weight, and because there's less mass, tip vibration is reduced, both in amplitude and duration, so the ski is quieter on the snow and the edges are locked into the snow sooner and longer. CPM models are offered flat or with plate and 12-DIN binding (Kastle branded, built by Tyrolia). K
