ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) – Three-time Olympic skiing gold medalist Janica Kostelic tore a thigh muscle during dry-land training in Austria, but was expected to be back on skis within three weeks.

“Tests today showed a minor muscle tear in the quadriceps of her right leg,” Ozren Mueller, a spokesman for the Croatian ski federation, said Tuesday.

Kostelic is expected to recover in 10 days and be skiing in three weeks, he added.

Kostelic, who returned to the World Cup circuit this season following three knee operations and surgery to remove her thyroid, was injured during a fitness drill Monday in the Austrian resort of Innerkrems.

Kostelic, who won three gold medals at this year’s world championships in the slalom, downhill and combined, almost won the season’s World Cup overall title, too. She finished three points behind Sweden’s Anja Paerson.
