The 2017 Nordica Badmind is the park-ready twin-tip in Nordica's Freeski collection. It's lightweight and traditionally waisted (non-symmetrical), so it's as happy out of the park as in it. And it's highly affordable, with an MSRP of $399 and a "street price" of just $299 in most shops. Nordica dropped its other park ski, the OMW, from the collection this year, but added an 84-mm version of the Badmind (the Badmind S), available in adolescent- and small-adult-friendly lengths of 149 and 156 cm. Nordica's Freeski series includes six men's models of wide and midfat freeriders, with waist widths of 113 mm (Patron), 100 mm (Enforcer), 97 mm (Soul Rider), 93 mm (Enforcer 93), 87 mm (Soul Rider 87), and 84 (the park-specific Bad Mind). The Helldorado, a metal-reinforced version of the full-fat Patron, was dropped from the collection this year, and two midfats were added: the Enforcer 93 and the Soul Rider 87. The top models are all proven tester favorites, and there's nothing gimmicky about the way they're made. All Nordica Freeski series models are classic laminate constructions with poplar/beech wood cores for durability and responsiveness, full-height/full-length sidewalls for powerful edge grip, and task-appropriate reinforcement (two sheets of metal in the Enforcers, for high-speed calm and edge grip; glass and carbon weaves in the rest, to keep them light and lively). All are twin-tips or slight-twins, with varying amounts of rocker for soft snow flotation and shock absorption, with camber through the midbody for edge grip and rebound energy. The Patron and the two Enforcers are powerful directional freeriders with medium-long sidecut radii (15.5 to 21 meters). The Soulriders are softer flexing, with tighter sidecuts and a more freestyle, bi-directional performance. The Badmind is a park and pipe model. All Freeski series models are sold flat (no binding).
