The 2017 Nordica Sentra 2 is the least expensive model in new Sentra line of women's groomed snow cruisers. It's built for light weight and easy performance appropriate for novices and intermediates who know they'll be sticking to mellow groomed runs, where its 75-mm width offers reliable edge grip. Sold with a lightweight, economical 10-DIN binding, its MSRP is $499, but it will sell for a "street price" of about $400 in many shops. Nordica's Sentra series is new four-model collection of narrow-waisted hard-snow carvers aimed at women who expect to spend most of their time on groomed runs-or want a narrow ski in the quiver for groomer-day fun between storms. The Sentras are designed and sold as systems, with a sturdy 12-DIN binding on the top model (Sentra S5) and lighter, more affordable 10-DINs on the lower three models. Waist widths range from 78 mm down to 72. Target ability and level of performance vary with price, from solid and edgy in the expert-level Sentra S5 down to soft-flexing and easy-to-manage in the low-end models. Constructions vary accordingly, from a sturdy wood core at the top down to wood-reinforced foam at the bottom. The top two models (S5 and 4) have a small amount of rocker tip and tail, for looser turn entries that make it easier to feather and drift arcs at high speeds. The lower models (4 and 3) have more pronounced rocker, making them easy to skid for quick direction changes and speed control. Sidecuts are tight, ranging from about 10 to 15 meters.
