The 2017 Salomon NFX is an 86-mm-waisted all-mountain jib ski. It bears the elite "Lab" designation, reserved for vector products co-developed and ridden hard by Salomon athletes. Sturdy wood-core, laminate construction gives it durability and energy. Vertical sidewalls give it edge strength on hard snow. And full camber gives it the carvability to generate speed into features and hits. Extra wide edges, with extra reinforcement, are built to withstand serious beat-downs in the park, on rock strewn steeps, or in urban environments, as is the extra-durable base material. With a low taper angle (the tail is only 7 mm narrower than the tip), it's comfortable going backward as well as forward. The NFX Lab is part of Salomon's Freestyle collection, which includes three twintips in waist widths of 100, 86, and 85 mm. All are sold flat (no binding). Salomon has been headquartered in Annecy, France, since its founding there in 1947. Along with sister brands Atomic and ArcTeryx, it is a division of Amer Sports of Finland, which acquired it in 2005. Its U.S. headquarters are in Ogden, Utah. -J.C.
