Pro Meet the Tornado’s laid-back little brother. The Blast boasts the same geometry as the Tornado, and is identical in all but one important way: It’s built around a foam core. The difference is edifying. Where the Tornado is quick and energetic, the Blast is cool and smooth. Its damper ride lends itself to longer, lazier arcs. Short turns and enjoyable rebound are still among its strengths, but the Blast is more forgiving of minor mistakes, more willing to perform given sloppy input. And its light weight and mid-fat width give it excellent versatility in powder. “Almost miraculously balanced in its skills (long or short turns), and its demeanor (smooth but energetic),” said Hochman. “Fun, dynamic, versatile.” Con Merely acceptable hard-snow grip. Not a big-guy ski.
