PRO: Like the Race Pro, the Diablo Magnesium starts from the same basic stance and foot position of Tecnica’s race boot, but it’s a notch roomier than the Pro, with a liner that’s noticeably cushier. The result is the Tecnica boot most likely to please experts with its balance of performance and comfort. The shell incorporates three different plastics, including softer blends that improve wrap and entry/exit. The Rapid Access cuff swings open, door-like, to ease entry. The Dual Pivot cuff-attachment system allows the boot’s forward flex to be tailored-neutral, inward or outward-to match the skier’s biomechanics. “Great liner, great wrap, great all-mountain skiability,” says Couperthwait.
