Solitude 12:24pm-1:26pm Vertical: 3,100 feet
What a little-known gem! I skied Solitude some ten years ago, but I had forgotten what a great spot it is. Radical views and steep terrain dominate this otherwise secret spot.
We met Solitude’s Public Relations Director, Mark Bennett, who showed us the goods on our way down to the Creekside restaurant for some pizza fuel.
On our way up the Eagle Express, Bennett explained that the lift was built in 1989 and made news as Utah’s first high-speed quad. Today, the Eagle Express lift is Utah’s oldest high-speed quad. How things change.
After gobbling our pizza like piranhas in a feeding frenzy, we headed up the Powderhorn chair and skied back down to our car via Eagles Ridge, Sundancer, and Post Card. The snow was awesome spring corn that grabbed our skis in spots, keeping us on our toes.
