Pro With the exact same dimensions and construction, the Aura, predictably, behaves much like the Mantra (see Free XL). But at 94 mm, it’s one of the fattest women’s skis out there, which is why it qualifies as XXL for the purposes of these reviews. The main difference is flex, which is softened to accommodate lighter-weight women. Strong expert women, like our testers, might actually prefer the Mantra, which scores higher in Rebound Energy and Crud. But the Aura is noticeably more forgiving and easier-going—a better match for all but the heaviest or most aggressive women. It tops its category for Flotation, and Larson loved its versatility: “Turns like a race ski, but works great in powder, too.” Con 177-cm test length wasn’t ideal in quick turns.
