Sorry for more ski racing news, but it's an Olympic year and we can't help ourselves. Spyder has announced a new, more aerodynamic speed suit, which will be worn by the U.S. and Canadian ski teams at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. If nothing else, read this to check out the nifty wind tunnel video.
While the men's world cup race at Beaver Creek was canceled due to wind, the women's team had a strong showing at Lake Louise. Lindsey Vonn, who came in second, was the fastest of the seven American women in the top 30. And both teams will be back for more tomorrow.
Lindsey Vonn says an article that claimed she has a size advantage over smaller racers helped motivate her to win three consecutive races last weekend. “If all it took to be good at ski racing was weight then we all would be stuffing our faces," she said during a conference call with reporters on Monday.
Lindsey Vonn and Maria Riesch were victorious at the women's World Cup in Lake Louise this weekend. Julia Mancuso finished strongly, too. "We've got the best downhill team in the world," she said at Saturday night's bib draw, before coming in third in the Super-G. We've got photos from the races.
