Elan Skis makes their return to Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) this March 22-24 for the second annual Elan Big Mountain Women’s Weekend. With more than 70 years of experience building skis in the Slovenian Alps, Elan brings its award-winning skis to the mountains of Colorado for a weekend camp geared towards women who shred.

Elan wants to showcase their freeride Ripstick line for women on a mountain that is known for its amazing terrain, awesome snow and great lifestyle. Crested butte provides the perfect intro to the big mountain, presenting the opportunity to push boundaries and to develop technique.

Krista Crabtree, an Elan W. Studio ambassador, organizes and leads the Elan Big Mountain Women’s Weekend. A veteran in the skiing industry—from coaching, to organizing women’s ski trips, to writing, and to leading ski tests—she knows the world of skiing and brings this knowledge plus her “Always Good Times” attitude to the event.

“This [camp] is for somebody who loves to ski in the mountains and is an all mountain skier, but they want to work with female guides to really hone their skills and build up confidence to ski some steeper terrain and learn the skills to access mountains like Crested Butte.”

The multi-day camp includes demos of the award-winning Elan women’s Ripstick Freeride skis. The camp offers both opportunities to drop impressive lines with CBMR Ski and Ride School guides and chances to enjoy the mountain lifestyle with organized lunches and après events.

The heart of the weekend is about meeting women, creating a supportive environment, and expanding your comfort zone. The camp strives to create a supportive environment where both the physical and psychological aspects of the sport can be explored and developed. “So if there’s a fear of skiing—whether it’s a steep run or even skiing a chute—being around women and female guides allows you to express your fear. The camp gives us the support I think we all need when we’re skiing” says Crabtree.
