This week, the third in Ted Ligety’s pre-season training series, Ted and his trainer, Alex More, show us how to do split squats, which work the quads, glutes and hamstrings. Moore says this exercise builds strength across the hips and thighs and, because it is unilateral, it exposes weakness if you have any. To make them easier, do them without any weight. To increase the difficulty, elevate your rear leg. Having the rear foot elevated also increases the stretch in the anterior (front) pelvis thus aiding mobility.
