Powers Wins Again At Super Series


Whitefish, MT, Feb. 4--For the second time this week, Alison Powers(Winter Park, CO) picked up a win on the Super Series tour, this time adownhill victory Friday on the Toni Matt course at Big Mountain.

Powers, who was victorious Tuesday in a Super Series SG and is thereigning overall Nor Am champion, won the second of two DHs with a timeof 1:23.24. Canada's Anne Marie LeFrancois placed second in 1:23.55 andLindsey Kildow (Vail, CO), just 15-years old, was third in 1:23.74.

In the first race, which was also the first DH event of the Super Seriesseason, LeFrancois placed first, clocking an afternoon-best 1:22.43. Shewas followed by Julia Mancuso (Tahoe City, CA), who is also 15-yearsold, in 1:23.07 and Kildow in 1:23.14. Powers finished fourth in theopening race, posting a 1:23.59.

The overall point standings have heated up following the two downhillsand entering the Super Series finals next week in Utah. LeFrancois isleading the race with 260 total points, followed closely by Powers with255. Mancuso is in third place with 244 points.

The Super Series championships are Feb. 7-10. A pair of slaloms will berun on Monday and Tuesday at Deer Valley and giant slalom will be run onWednesday and Thursday at Park City.
