US Alpine Skiers Named for World Juniors in Canada


Park City, UT Feb. 8--Nine skiers have been named to compete Feb.22-27 in the World Alpine Junior Championships outside Quebec City, theU.S. Ski Team said Tuesday.

U.S. Alpine Development Director Aldo Radamus said additional athleteswould be named following North American Junior Championships thisweekend at Sugarloaf/USA in Maine.

The group includes:

Men - Marco Sullivan, Tahoe City, Calif./Squaw Valley Ski Team and U.S.C Team; Josh Transue, Hunter, N.Y./Green Mountain Valley School and U.S.Development Team; David Lamb, Steamboat Springs, Colo./Steamboat SpringsWinter Sports Club and U.S. Development Team; Chad McConathy, Vail,Colo./Team Mac and the U.S. Development Team

Women - Julia Mancuso, Tahoe City/Squaw Valley Ski Team and U.S.Development Team; April Mancuso, Tahoe City, Calif./Squaw Valley SkiTeam and U.S. Development Team; Lindsey Kildow, Vail, Colo., and U.S.Development Team; Hilary McCloy, Bethel, Maine/WatervilleValley/Holderness School and U.S. C Team; and Brett Buckles, SteamboatSprings, Colo./SSWSC and U.S. C Team

"This is good, solid team," Radamus said. "Marco Sullivan is on the roadto recovery asfter being injured and he's ranked in the top-5 in allfour events internationally for his age group. Julia and Lindsey haveskied extremely well for two 15-year-old racers, and they could performquite favorably. We're anxious to get at it."
