Copper Mountain is proud to host the Special Olympics Colorado Winter Games for the 21st year in a row. More than 300 athletes will compete March 29 and 30 in alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and figure skating. Copper is proud to be the official winter training site for all Colorado-based Special Olympics athletes and official host resort for the Special Olympics Colorado Winter Games through 2010.
Opening Ceremony celebrations will feature the lighting of the Flame of Hope and a torchlight parade followed by fireworks. Special Olympics athletes will be able to visit “Olympic Town” filled with activities for athletes on March 29 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the Copper Conference Center.

The mission of Special Olympics Colorado is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for adults and children with intellectual disabilities, providing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy with their families, fellow athletes and the community.
