Three years ago, big-air specialist Jamie Pierre became the first skier to huck off the “big cliff” at Wolverine Cirque, in the Alta, Utah, backcountry. These days, most everyone’s doing it. In February, JT Holmes threw a gainer off the 160-footer. (Others followed suit.) Why the big flip? Says Holmes: “I just needed something to do in the air.”
