If you are looking for a luxurious place to stay in Lake Placid, the Golden Arrow might not be for you. But if you are looking for a simple place to stay with clean comfortable rooms, friendly service, and lots of amenities, it’s a great place to stay. The place is nothing fancy, in fact some of the furniture is mismatched and on the old side, but it has a great view, looking right out over Mirror Lake and the mountains. The hotel is located right in Lake Placid, so it’s easy to get around and fun to explore the town after a day of skiing. If you don’t feel like going out for dinner in town, try the in-hotel restaurant, Generations. The menu features foods that are grown and raised locally. Try executive chef David Hunt’s specialty, baby back ribs—tender and delicious, grilled and triple-basted, served with fries. Overall, the hotel is a little pricy for what you get, but the location and view cannot be beat.
