How The Survey is Conducted

For the 13th consecutive year, SKI readers provide the most comprehensive¿and longest running¿ski resort survey in the winter-sports industry. RRC Associates, an independent research firm in Boulder, Colo., contacts 20,000 randomly selected and geographically diverse SKI subscribers of two years or more. Readers are asked to critique resorts they have visited in the past two seasons. They grade, on a scale of 1 to 10, how each resort performs in 16 categories, from Snow and Terrain to Service and Dining. SKI readers also answer how important each category is to the success of their resort experience. RRC assigns statistical weights to each category based on reader priorities. Scores across 16 categories are combined to calculate the final rankings, which are reported by region.
