THREE DAYS: L.A. TO SNOWBIRD

FLY:

Sign up for Delta’s sale fare and last-minute deal alerts (delta.com). Weekend round-trip fares from L.A.’s Ontario airport to Salt Lake International start at $138.

RIDE:

Reserve a $50 round-trip shuttle between the airport and Snowbird. Barring traffic jams, you’ll be boarding the tram an hour after claiming your luggage.

STAY: The concrete-bunker-style Cliff Lodge isn’t as easy on the eyes as surrounding Little Cottonwood Canyon, but you’re here to ski. Get two nights for $198 (including lift ticket), and the complex has a rooftop pool and hot tub, a spa with 28 treatment rooms, a sushi bar on the 10th floor, and two dozen tequilas at the Keyhole Cantina downstairs.

SKI: Moisture-filled clouds bottleneck in the canyon on their way eastward from the Pacific, dumping 500 annual inches onto the ‘Bird’s wide bowls and skinny steeps, like Barry Barry Steep and Great Scott. Take laps on the tram (3,240 vertical), drop off High Baldy traverse, or take the Baldy Express to Alta.

THE TOTAL: $386(before meals)
