Newry, ME, Dec. 13–To combat rumors and predictions of a less than snowy Christmas and New Year’s holiday, six New England ski resorts make a money-backed promise that you will find snowy slopes.
That’s right. Guaranteed snow and a guarantee that a minimum of 70 percent of the area’s terrain open. Make a reservation at Killington, VT, Mount Snow, VT, Sugarbush, VT, Attitash Bear Peak, NH, Sugarloaf, ME, or Sunday River, ME anytime before Dec. 24 for a vacation between Dec. 25-Jan. 2.
If the snow conditions aren’t met, the resort will give you 25 percent off the next ski vacation you take this season, as well as a voucher for up to $500 towards a ski vacation at The Canyons, UT, or Steamboat Ski Resort, CO.
Chances are good though that the snow will be there whether or not real thing falls from the sky. “Our resorts have the most advanced snowmaking systems in the nation, and we expect to be wide open,” said Leslie Otten, American Skiing Company chairman and CEO. “But if we can’t give our guests at least 70 percent of their mountain, we activate the guarantee.”
Although skiing ranks high, the resorts have a plethora of fun activities other than skiing for all ages. “The resorts will offer a wide variety of on- and off-slope activities,” said Otten. “Well have live entertainment, tubing, fine dining, snowshoeing, dancing, hayrides, New Year’s 2000 parties for kids and adults, and fireworks.”
