1. Tremblant, Quebec

Mont Tremblant is the overall best resort in the East. Best value in North America. Dining, hotel accommodations, charm, and scenery are unparalleled.”

2. Holiday Valley, N.Y.

“I’ve been skiing Holiday Valley my whole life and they work hard to provide a first-class skiing experience. The resort and community does a phenomenal job creating a great location to ski and create memories. Ellicottville is the PERFECT ski town with shops, bars, and restaurants. And Holiday Valley is a bonafide year-round destination.”

3. Stowe Mountain Resort, Vt.

4. Whiteface, N.Y.

5. Killington, Vt.

Killington has it all: sprawling, varied terrain to appeal to skiers of all levels, tons of lifts and accommodations, plenty of dining options, and enough snow guns to provide great coverage.”

6. Smugglers’ Notch, Vt.

“Our skiing family, grandparents, grown children, and grandchildren shared a comfortable condo two minutes from the slopes for five days. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. The skiing at Smugglers’ Notch was extensive, conditions good, crowds almost nonexistent. There are a couple of really good restaurants at the resort and more down the hill in the village. It lived up to all our expectations and its own reputation..”

7. Sugarbush, Vt.

Sugarbush is the best place in VT. Good variety of terrain, nice access to side country, a couple good lunch options. Also, the Mad River Valley is a special place in the world—nice people, lots of scattered inns and restaurants.”

8. Sunday River, Maine

9. Mad River Glen, Vt.

Mad River Glen has a wonderful small-town feel and could not be more welcoming. The surrounding area is beautiful and offers lots of non-skiing winter activities, as well as lots of reasonably priced and very charming dining and lodging options. I can’t imagine many people only visit once!”

10. Loon Mountain, N.H.
