3. Telluride, Colo.
"Telluride is a gem hidden in the San Juans. It takes effort to get there, but once you're there it's hard to leave. The skiing is exceptional and never crowded. If you're in it for the food you can't go wrong, there are five on-mountain dining options that range from snacks to fine dining. Whether you're up in Mountain Village or down in town, you'll find amazing après spots and bars that will carry you well into the evening."
