Ski Season Dates: early June-early October
Boasting the longest season in the Southern Hemisphere, Mt. Hutt’s ski conditions and quality draw greatly from its location inside the eastern rim of the Southern Alps. An hour’s drive into the mountains from Christchurch, Mt. Hutt receives some of the deepest and lightest powder in all of Australia and New Zealand.
The area’s location has its practical advantages for beginners and experts alike. Powder hounds just won’t believe their luck with plenty of black diamond runs on the South Face offering extreme skiers as many different challenges as they can handle. The wide-open terrain is great for first-time skiers and families too. Snowmaking, starting in early May, ensures great snow for anyone ready to come and get it.
