Skiing in summer can be a tame affair - a morning's worth of mellow turns on a glacier or a day spent soaking up the sun on the cruising grounds of an intermediate's mountain.
But it doesn't have to be.
Summer terrain, whether in South America or deep Down Under, can challenge even the world's best skiers, many of whom head south when the snow does.
