Sun Valley Hosts 7th Annual Bike Festival

If you’re a mountain biker, take heed: The four-day Ride Sun Valley biking extravaganza couldn’t be more stoked about cycling.

Sun Valley, Idaho’s annual bike festival is coming to town June 29 to July 2, with a wide array of races, live entertainment, and a crowd of enthusiastic dirt shredders to up your cycling stoke.

The festival’s marquee event is the SCOTT Enduro cup July 1 and 2, a mountain bike race open to all—professionals, amateurs, and juniors—on one of the best singletrack destinations in the country.

Several other races will be held during the course of the festival, including a drag race where participants literally drag flaming logs behind their bikes. Gives new meaning to “drag race”… A kid’s mountain bike race will be held the next day, as well as a pump track state championship on July 2 open to all ages.

For those not looking to compete, there will be free rides guided by local experts, bike clinics to help you tune up your cycling skills, and a three-day expo where you can demo any bike from any brand for free, and make plans for compete in next year’s races. Need more info? Head here.

This unique version of a drag race is the unofficial start of the festival and it’s open to the public– so you could give it a go if you’re feeling especially daring.

The first day of the Enduro Cup is hosted in the backcountry trail system, so get ready to head off the beaten path a little if you’re thinking of signing up.

In case you didn’t know, riding on a pump track means “pumping” your lower and upper body up and down to keep up momentum (pedaling will get you disqualified).

The second and final day of the Enduro Cup takes place at Sun Valley’s Ski Resort, on over 3,200 feet of vertical terrain.
