Lake Louise, Alb.: K2 Big Mountain Challenge, Feb. 24—Feb. 25

Head to Lake Louise this weekend for the 14th Annual K2 Big Mountain Challenge! Over the course of two days, athletes will compete on a variety of venues and will be judged on things like line, style, and technique. Event Registration and details found here. Win or lose – there’s still booze, right? For the perfect après to a day of competing, senior athletes can head over to Lodge of Ten Peaks to check out the Hot Dogger After-Party for free! Otherwise tickets start at $30 CAD.

Whistler Blackcomb, B.C.: Peak to Valley Race, Feb. 24—25

Back for its 33rd year, the Peak to Valley Race at Whistler Blackcomb will happen this Friday and Saturday. The historic race prides itself on the lengthy course starting on the Whistler Saddle and finishes (conveniently) at a classic après spot, Dusty’s. Teams of 4 will compete over the two-day course and can find event and registration information here.

Jackson Hole, Wyo.: Dick’s Ditch Classic Banked Slalom, Feb. 24—Feb. 26

Starting Friday with a course inspection and ending Sunday with a winner-takes-all final, make sure to be there to accept the challenge or watch the competitions! More information here.

Beaver Creek, Colo.: Talons Challenge, Feb. 25

The Talon Challenge is back for its 14th year on the best steeps Beaver Creek has to offer! To make it to the Talons Wall-of-Fame, ski all 26,000 vertical feet of the black and double-black diamonds of the resort – including World Cup Birds of Prey downhill course. Head here for event and registration information.

Okemo, Vt.: Winter Wild Uphill Race, Feb. 25

The Winter Wild Uphill Race isn’t quite like the others – find the finish line at the bottom, so you get to race back down the mountain too. Competitors will tackle the 3 mile long course first thing in the morning and raffles and an award ceremony will follow inside the base lodge. For Okemo’s stop of the Winter Wild event series, head here for event information and registration.

Northstar, Calif.: Mardi Gras Celebration, Feb. 25—26

California’s Northstar Resort hosts its own Mardi Gras celebration this Saturday, with events ranging from scavenger hunts to live music including the Saint Gabriels Celestial Brass Band! Click here for more information.

Vail, Colo.: CarniVail, Feb. 25—26

Just because a ski town might not have the same feel as New Orleans’ Bourbon Street doesn’t mean they can’t celebrate Mardi Gras! Dress up in Mari Gras apparel and swap the goggles to beads this Saturday and Sunday with Mardi Gras celebrations and fun for the whole family. Head to Vail’s website for a detailed event schedule.

Telluride, Colo.: Telluride Gay Ski Week, Feb. 25—March 4

Telluride’s annual Gay Ski Week kicks off this Saturday, with an après ski party, an opening night welcome and arts show, and an opening night dance party at the Liberty Bar. The fun continues throughout the week with skiing, dancing and partying, so make sure to check out all of the events offered.
