Tona; Ogden, Utah

We weren't expecting to find good sushi in Ogden, Utah, either. But we did. This up-and-coming ski town, which is near Powder Mountain and Snowbasin, has a growing list of high-quality dining options, including Tona, located on the town's main street. They've got an extensive list of Japanese-style tapas (try the baby back ribs basted in jalapeno teriyaki), udon noodle bowls, and fresh sashimi and rolls. Save room for their fried ginger ice cream with raspberry sauce.

Bistro 258

Located in one of Ogden's oldest buildings, this bistro is worth the trip to town after skiing at Snowbasin.
