True Love At 12,440 Feet

Georgetown, CO. (Loveland Press Release)—Being surrounded by white is not uncommon on the slopes of Loveland Ski Area, but this Valentine's Day you will likely be surrounded by white wedding gowns in addition to the fluffy snow. The 15th annual Mountaintop Matrimony will take place this February 14, at the summit of Loveland Ski Area's Chair Two. Adventuresome couples will gather at a rustic mountain cabin to take part in a truly unique mass wedding ceremony. The event is open to those who wish to marry and for couples renewing their wedding vows.

Those who pre-register for the event before February 12th, 2006 are eligible to receive one free lift ticket with the purchase of one regular priced adult lift ticket on the day of the event. Participants may register on-line at or by calling 303-571-5580 x141.

"This is our biggest event of the season, said John Sellers, Marketing Director. "Our mountain provides a distinctive setting for a truly unique wedding. Watching over 60 couples ski down the mountain in full wedding attire after exchanging their vows is always an incredible sight to see."

Harry Heilmann, Registered Minister with the Universal Life Church, will conduct the ceremony starting at noon at the Ptarmigan Roost cabin at 12,440 feet. Registration is free and couples wishing to be legally wed must have a valid Colorado marriage license. Participants must be at least 18 years old and be able to ski or snowboard down the mountain after the ceremony.

A reception will follow the ceremony in the Loveland Basin Lodge with Summit County radio station, KSMT The Mountain, emceeing. The reception will include food, wedding cake and refreshments and is free to all pre-registered couples. Couples dressed in wedding attire will be entered to win a "best-dressed couple grand prize package from JC Keepsake as well as other prizes and raffles courtesy of Fox Sports, Coors, KSMT and Loveland Ski Area. The reception will also be open to guests and couples who did not pre-register for $15 per person.
