Tuxedo Ridge

Tuxedo Ridge, formerly Sterling Forest, is so close to New Jersey that you can exit in Suffern and take the two-lane the last couple of miles if you wish. The point being, it's one of the closest ski areas to the major metropolitan area of New York and northern New Jersey. Not by much, mind you - Mt. Peter is just three miles further west - but around here every extra mile you can avoid driving is a blessing, indeed.

Despite its location on the very edge of one of the most densely populated areas in the country, Tuxedo Ridge has a delightfully rural feel about it. Skeptics need only admire the view from the top of Tiger Pass, where the only building in sight is the base lodge, and the wooded rolling hills stretch to the horizon.
